How to fix “Background Items Added” Notifications

The regular way

To get rid of the notifications using the regular (but slightly techy) method, follow these steps:

  1. Open Finder on your Mac.open-finder
  2. Click on the “Go” menu and select “Go to Folder….go-to-folder
  3. Type in “/Library/LaunchAgents” and press Enter.Type-in-Library-Launch-Agents
  4. Look for the app(s) or developer name(s) causing the notifications (the same one/ones in the Background Items Added notifications on your desktop) and delete any related plist files.delete-any-related-plist-files
  5. Empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

If the notifications persist, repeat steps 2–3 and look for launch daemons associated with the app(s) or developer name(s) in the /Library/LaunchDaemons folder instead. Then delete those files, empty the Trash, and restart your Mac.

The less techy way
